Hello :)

Hi everyone

This is my very first blog entry and about bloody time too! I have been meaning to start one for nearly two years and have been saying mañana, mañana, mañana ... well, here it is! Ta dah! Je m'appelle Claire, as you may have gathered from my blog title and if you are also getting a slight whiff of European, then you are right. I am an Englishwoman living in America. I moved here nearly three years ago and cannot believe how 'special' (and not, as my sister likes to say, 'special needs'!) I am made to feel for having a coveted English accent. I love it out here for many reasons, but being constantly told how great I sound is fab. Plus the weather takes some beating.

Anyway, to share a little of my family life, I have two gorgeous children (Emma, 16, and Tom, 14) and the three of us moved from England to live in California in order for me to marry my childhood sweetheart after a 30 year absence! That is rather a long and hilarious story, and the subject of my memoir 'Right From The Start' which I am writing after being nagged constantly by friends who think it would make a fantastic movie! My husband has three children, two of which are still living at home (Oliver 20 and Rachel 18), so we are all squished in together in their existing home and have been living in a 'blended family' ever since, together with a mad dog and my two beloved cats. Things have been complicated, challenging and chaotic, but at least there has never been a dull moment.

I will be sharing some of the more dramatic and funny stories of my time here, what I have learned and some of the outcomes, plus extracts from my memoir. I am also really spiritual and one of the reasons why I think I was drawn to move out to this particular beauty spot was to connect deeper with Source. This particular beautiful part of California feels like the cutting edge of everything I believe in.

I would love to connect and make friends with anyone who is interested in laughing, families (step or otherwise), writing, anything spiritual or good for our planet.

Bye for now :)

  8. Hi Claire,
I look forward to visiting your space often. I too have been procrastinating about a blog, a fb page and tweeting. But alas technology continues to move forward it just won't wait for us. I too can relate to the thirty something feeling. And can share not so funny stories of a blended family looking forward to reading the humor side of blending!
